FUTURE EVENTS

Victorian Event Details

With the rising cost of fuel for mostly thirsty cars and an expressed reluctance from members to drive long distances in a single day, a modified program is proposed to make it easier and more cost-effective to continue to meet together and maintain friendships.

The main program will consist of three multiple day events plus our Christmas event (which some may choose to extend to two days to make travelling easier). The multiple day events will be on the March long-weekend, the June long-weekend (possibly a Border Run with South Australia) and a mid-week overnighter (or double overnighter) in mid-September.

As well there will be a number of more localised single day events organised by those living within reasonable distance of each other. This may be as simple as meeting at a mutually convenient location, having lunch together (e.g. at a hotel bistro) and then going home. The proposed localities are Metropolitan, Mornington Peninsula (including Packenham and Moe), Bellarine Peninsula & Ballarat, and Central / North East.

Example of the type of localised events are:

Metropolitan  -  Meet at Warrandyte for lunch. Average return travel distance for all members living in the area is approx. 65 km with an approx. fuel cost of $35 (based on $2.50 per litre and 15 mpg).

Mornington Peninsula  -  Meet at Koo Wee Rup for lunch. Average return travel distance for all members living in the area is approx. 100 km with an approx. fuel cost of $50 (based on $2.50 per litre and 15 mpg).

Bellarine / Ballarat  - Meet at Meredith for lunch. Average return travel distance for all members living in the area is approx. 140 km with an approx. fuel cost of $70 (based on $2.50 per litre and 15 mpg).

Central / North East  -  Meet at Shepparton for lunch. Average return travel distance for all members living in the area is approx. 220 km with an approx. fuel cost of $100 (based on $2.50 per litre and 15 mpg).

As Events Coordinator for Victoria I will be contacting individual members to assist in organising these local events. If you have any suggestions for good places to meet, or changes to the proposal that will make it even better, please contact Clynton Robinson (clynton.robinson@bigpond.com or 0418 100 102).

Invitation Events

We will continue to have invitations to events organised by other car clubs and peak bodies like AOMC and Federation.
