CHRISTMAS PICNIC AT TOOROURRONG RESERVOIR PARK

Victorian Event Details

As we expect there may still be some restrictions to meeting inside, this year’s Christmas get-together will be outside in a park setting. Our chosen venue is the Toorourrong Reservoir Park at Whittlesea as it is roughly equi-distant from the Mornington and Bellarine Peninsulas and Ballarat, Bendigo, Benalla and Merrigum, which are generally the furthest out for a reasonable number of members. A few live outside that range and the rest are comfortably within it.

The park is situated at 120 Jacks Creek Road, Whittlesea, which goes off the Whittlesea-Yea Road. Some of you may remember going to this park with the Cadillac Car Club around 2001 or so.

This year is BYO everything; food, drinks, tables, chairs, etc. Members who have portable shelters may wish to bring them too, just in case it is a particularly hot day.

Some of the members will get there as early as possible to set up some portable shelters and stake out place in the picnic area. Arrive any time after 10:00 am and stay as long as you like (or until they lock the gates at the end of the day). On arrival at the parking area, you may call Clynton Robinson on 0418 100 102 to get specific details of where we have set up.

With large grassy open spaces for children to play, wooded areas to explore and generous facilities, this is a perfect place to gather. The Park has many picnic areas available with shelters, picnic tables and electric barbecues. Dogs are not allowed in the park.

Car parking is provided 280m along a sealed path from the picnic area and toilet facilities. All abilities access is provided throughout the park, including accessible toilets and an all-abilities access ramp from the main carpark. No rubbish bins are provided, so please take other rubbish home with you.

If any of those travelling from the further reaches of the state would like to arrange an overnight stay before heading home again, accommodation can be booked for around $150-160 for the night at the Whittlesea Motel by ringing 9716 3863. Rooms have been booked there already by a few of our members. The Royal Mail Hotel has a bistro for dinner on Sunday night.
