STUDEBAKER CONCOURS AT GEELONG

Victorian Event Details

Once again we are joining with the Studebaker Car Club to share in their weekend at Geelong. As we have experienced in previous years, the Studebaker Club members host a fantastic weekend with a variety of activities focused on both cars and socialising.

This year the central part of our outing is to join in on the Saturday when the Studebaker Club holds its concours day. 

For anyone who would like to join in for the whole weekend (19th to 21st October), the Studebaker Club members are staying at the Riverglen Holiday Park, 75 Barrabool Road, Belmont, 3216, phone (03) 5243 5505, website www.riverglenhp.com.au; if you want to stay there then book as soon as possible as places are filling fast.

Details of the planned weekend are:

Friday Night:Free” BBQ dinner put on by the car club at the Riverglen holiday park from 6.30pm in the BBQ area by the pool. This was a very enjoyable social evening last year with over 100 member’s attending. We aim to have the same type of night this year. B.Y.O. Chairs and drinks.

Saturday: Concours at Eastern Beach Reserve

Cars can arrive from 9:00 am and will be marshaled into position for the show.

If you wish to have your car judged, it must be on the field and registered by 10:00 am. No entries will be accepted after this time, so please be on time. The Judging system this year will be the same as the last several years.

Food and drinks will be available on the day. A coffee van and The Lions club will be set up, with The Lions club cooking bacon and eggs for breakfast and sausages and hamburgers for lunch as well as selling cold drinks.

Saturday: Ladies bus trip

A bus will be picking up from the Concours site at 10.30am and heading to the Geelong Gallery, this is free to enter and has many fine artworks on display.

The Gallery also has a special display on at this time, the 2018 Archibald Prize. This is exhibit is full of the best portraits, done by artists from around Australia.

It is $16 to enter this exhibit, and is optional to view and can be paid on the day.

The bus will then head off to Barwon Heads for lunch to the Barwon Heads Hotel, following lunch, those attending have the option to look around the shops in Barwon Heads or take a walk along the beach. The bus will then return to the Concours site at 3.30pm.

This is a “FREE” event, lunch is at own expense.

Saturday Night: Trophy Presentation dinner At Buckley’s Entertainment Centre, 54 Fellmongers Rd, Breakwater. Buckley’s has a free shuttle bus service for anyone who wishes not to drive on the night, which will be doing pickups and drop off from the front of Riverglen Holiday Park from 5.30pm

Our function room will be open from 6:30 pm. For anyone who wishes to arrive before 6:30, the bar and pokies will be open.

Sunday Morning: “Free” BBQ breakfast at Riverglen Holiday Park.

Bacon,egg & toast for breakfast at the BBQ area from 7.30am till 9.0am

Sunday: Meeting in the gravel carpark opposite the Riverglen Holiday Park and leaving at 10:00 am for a short drive to Fyansford to see the painted silo art. From there we will be going on a leisurely drive to the You Yangs National Park, where we will drive up to the top to the look out. From the lookout you can see Melbourne, Geelong and the Port Phillip Bay, it is a beautiful view. There is no hard walking to get to the look out, with the car park close by. Although for those feeling adventurous, there are many walking trails around the park. Following this we will be heading on a short drive to Lara to the Lara Hotel for lunch. The hotel has great pub meals at reasonable prices, as well as a large entertainment area for children and plenty of off street parking.
